It can be hard to hear the one in the opening pattern of this drum beat, as the snare and kick drum hits make the count very deceptive. Then, the whole drum track comes into a straightforward back beat that brings the whole groove into focus. It returns to the intro section, which includes snare hits on each quarter note and a complimentary kick drum pattern. The simple beat has some hi-hat embellishments and small fills. Another groove has snare hits on beats 2, 3 and 4. The pattern that follows that has several snare hits and almost no kick drum. These odd patterns evolve into different incarnations throughout. At one point a four on the floor kick groove comes in. The drum track closes out with some solo hi-hat work.
