This is a drum beat that comes out kicking from the get go, with a busy, complex and tight jungle groove. There are lots of ghost notes and syncopated snare/kick drum parts. The pattern varies slightly about a minute in, but stays in the same feel. At one point the beat cuts out for a couple bars and the cymbal switches. There are some cool, fast fills thrown in throughout and small variations of the beat. The closed hi-hat returns before the 2 minute mark. The drum beat keeps up the fast pace for the entire track.

I have to tell you, this track is the shizzle... It's working from the start, and gives you a nice popping snare and sizzling cymbal work. The secret weapon though, is his right foot (assuming he's not a lefty)...
It definitely calls for well defined tracks to be added to it, as it can't be loosey-goosey or it will stick out like a sore thumb. Northside mixes it up giving you several measures of a particular groove, then alternate takes on that groove, as well as a move that lets you downshift the rhythm section. This is a most excellent cut for honing your chops if you're a guitarist or bassist.
