The beginning of this drum beat is a slow and quiet feel with just cymbals and the occasional kick drum. Then a cross stick comes in for the 3/4 feel. This soon switches to the snare drum, which brings the volume up. Around 1:40 the pattern switches from the ride cymbal to the hi-hat and the beat tightens up a little. The hi-hat then opens up and leads us back to the ride pattern for a while. After the 3 minute mark the slightly open hi-hat is back, then things come down to just cymbals like the intro. A couple big snare hits and we're back to the ride cymbal pattern. The beat stays big through to the end, with some big fills along the way.
